Lianbridge

Private beta · invite only

AI translation for one specific document: the apparel tech pack. English spec sheets go in, Chinese a factory can sew from comes out, with every image, formula, and cell format where it was.

The problem

Chinese garment factories live inside English spreadsheets they can't read. General translators fail twice. They miss trade vocabulary ("topstitch" is a sewing instruction, not a phrase) and they break the file. Images shift, formulas die.

For this user, format preservation is the product.

What I built

  • Surgery on the file. The tool edits text inside the file's internals and touches nothing else.
  • A glossary as the moat. 845+ curated terms, injected per document.
  • A second pass catches misses. Untranslated cells get another round. SKUs and product codes stay untouched on purpose.
  • PDFs get an overlay. Chinese sits over the original as movable layers and the source survives.

Decisions that mattered

  • Sell access through invite codes. Stripe for payment, WeChat for support, because that's where this buyer lives.
  • Specialized translation models instead of famous chatbots. Faster, cheaper, and better with terminology, tuned per model.
  • An honest AI disclaimer in the UI. For documents that become physical garments, trust is retention.
A weekend prototype became a paid product with payments, an admin console, and PDF support in six months.
$100 a month, $500 for six months, $750 a year. Unlimited use.
